Mission 7 · Inbox triage
Monday, 8:02. Your client lands in Sydney in an hour. Forty emails. Which one do you open first?
Correct. A deadline inside the hour beats everything that can wait until she lands.

01 Learn
Each of the 30 missions is a client situation. A story, a short lesson, a worked example, then you decide and write. Correct answers explain why. Wrong ones teach, and never cost you a score.
Mission 1 · Task intake
12 minStory
Your client forwards one line: "Can you sort the Sydney trip?"
Lesson
The four questions that turn a vague ask into a task list.
Example
A confirmation message with owners and dates, annotated.
Decide
Three ways to reply. One of them is right.
Write
Your own confirmation, graded on the phrases that matter.
02 Practise
Every question comes back on day 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30. Ten minutes of practice keeps your streak alive, on Manila time, with two shields a month for the days life gets in the way.

It is 9:00 in Manila. What time is it for a client in Denver in July?
Wrong answers return tomorrow. They never cost a score.
03 Prove
A Monday inbox with a phishing email inside it. A founder who double-booked herself across three time zones. An AI draft you have to sign. Pass at 85 with no critical error and the badge is yours.

Issued after a reviewed capstone. Anyone can verify it at its public link.
Eight modules, in order. Each ends in a checkpoint or a simulation, and the path ends in the capstone.
Module 1
What a virtual assistant actually does, how work arrives, and how to keep a client's accounts and data safe from day one.
3 missions · checkpoint
Module 2
Write short, warm, professional messages a busy client can act on; report before being asked; know when to ask, decide or escalate.
4 missions · simulation
Module 3
Sort an inbox by urgency and ownership in minutes, draft replies the client can send unchanged, and track every open thread.
4 missions · simulation
Module 4
Convert and propose times across US, Australian and Manila hours without error, tell hard constraints from preferences, and run meetings people actually attend.
4 missions · simulation
Module 5
Find, compare and cite sources a client can trust; clean data and build trackers in Sheets; keep files where a team can find them.
4 missions · simulation
Module 6
Brief an AI assistant like a junior colleague, catch made-up facts before a client sees them, and know what client data may never leave your hands.
4 missions · simulation
Module 7
Write procedures another VA could follow tomorrow, spot the phishing attempt, and share files with the right people and nobody else.
3 missions · simulation
Module 8
Present verified work so employers can judge it in a minute, answer the questions remote clients actually ask, and run a full client shift end to end.
4 missions · capstone
Six badges from simulations, and the credential from the reviewed capstone. None of them unlock with XP.
Passed the client communication simulation.

Beyond the missions
Ten real VA situations, five minutes, a score per skill. It seeds your competency scores, so experienced VAs move fast through what they already know.
Take the testEvery written answer from a simulation can become a portfolio item. Edit it, publish it, and an employer reads work that was graded, not a sample you wrote for the occasion.
Open the pathScores, badges and published work appear on your VirtualStaffer profile. Companies on Basic and Pro plans see all of it when you apply.
Browse VA jobsVerified Admin VA is issued only after a person reviews your capstone. Each credential has a public verification page, so an employer never has to take your word for it.
See the standardCareer starters, career switchers, working VAs and candidates already applying here. Same path, different reasons to take it.
Maybe a BPO, retail, teaching or office background. The path assumes nothing and builds the whole skill set, one client situation at a time. The readiness test shows where you already stand, and the first module is free.

The capstone and human review are being prepared.
Everything you do on the path already counts toward the standard, so there is nothing to wait for.
Every module ends in something you can show. By the capstone you will have:
The full module-by-module list, with every mission and the skills it scores, is on the path page.
Each mission is 10 to 25 minutes and follows the same shape: a client situation in two or three lines, a short lesson with the four or five rules that matter, a worked example of a message or decision done well, then three to six graded steps where you decide, sort, select or write. Every graded step explains itself after you answer, whether you were right or not. Nothing is a definition to memorise; everything is a decision you will make for a client.
Simulations are longer and the stakes are visible: a Monday inbox with a phishing email inside it, a founder who double-booked herself, a competitor brief where one agency does not publish prices, an AI case study that must go out under the client's name. Your first answers feed your competency scores and the module badge, and the writing you produce becomes a portfolio draft you can edit and publish.
Every graded question you have seen comes back on day 1, then 3, 7, 14 and 30 days after your last correct answer. Get it wrong and it returns tomorrow. A practice set is up to ten questions and takes about five minutes, awards XP, and counts toward your streak. This is what makes the path stick: a rule you applied once in a lesson is a rule you have applied five times by the time an employer asks you to.
XP measures effort: missions, perfect runs, practice sets, passed simulations, a completed module. A streak is one meaningful thing a day, on Manila time, with two shields a month that repair a missed day automatically. Neither of them touches your competency scores or the certification decision. Badges are different: each is earned only by passing a module's simulation at 85 percent with no critical error, and the credential only by meeting the full standard and passing a human review. You cannot grind your way to evidence.
| Option | What you get | What employers can check |
|---|---|---|
| Free videos and Facebook groups | Tips, tool walkthroughs, mixed advice | Nothing |
| Course with a certificate of completion | Structured lessons, often video, a PDF at the end | That you finished |
| Agency training after placement | Real work, but only after someone hired you | The agency's word |
| VirtualStaffer Academy | Daily missions, spaced practice, simulations, a reviewed capstone, a portfolio | Scores per skill, badges, published work, a verifiable credential |
Fifteen to thirty minutes a day is the design point: one mission or one practice set. Thirty missions and a one-hour capstone come to roughly ten hours of missions plus practice, which most learners spread over six weeks. Lessons and practice work on a phone. Simulations and the capstone are writing-heavy and mirror laptop work, so a laptop is recommended for those, but there is nothing to install and nothing that needs more than a browser.
A certificate of completion says you watched the lessons. Employers have learned to ignore them. The Verified Admin VA credential says you handled a simulated inbox, resolved a calendar conflict without breaking a rule, caught what an AI made up, refused a phishing request and ran a full client shift, and that a person read your work before it was issued. It links to a page that shows your competency scores and the work you chose to publish. That is something a founder can judge in a minute.
Inbox, calendar, written communication, research, spreadsheets, documentation and safe AI use are the base of almost every remote support role: executive assistance, small-business support, customer service, ecommerce, recruiting, project coordination. Learn them once, properly, and every specialisation after that is a shorter path. The roles on VirtualStaffer that fill fastest, general and executive VA, admin and inbox, calendar management, are exactly this skill set.
Your profile on VirtualStaffer carries the credential, your scores and your evidence. When you apply to a job here, the company sees them next to your resume. Combine it with the AI resume builder and the job matcher, and every application you send is backed by assessed work, not adjectives.
The curriculum is written from the tasks in real VA job postings on this board and from what employers report going wrong in the first month. The scenarios use fictional clients. Every simulation has a rubric, and the capstone is reviewed by VirtualStaffer staff, not by an algorithm alone. The content is versioned; when a mission changes, the version is recorded against every learner who took it.
