Why match before you apply?
A resume score tells you whether your resume is good. It does not tell you whether it is good for this job. Employers read for their own list: the tools they run, the hours they need covered, the type of client you have supported. A strong general resume that never mentions the one tool in the posting reads like a weak match, even when you use that tool every day.
The matcher reads the posting the way a screener would, turns it into a list of requirements, and checks each one against your resume. You see the grade and the evidence, so you know what to fix, what to confirm and when to move on to a better fit.
How does tailoring change the resume?
- The summary is rewritten to lead with the requirements you meet, in the posting's own words.
- Bullets that prove a requirement move up and get sharper; unrelated bullets stay but step back.
- Skills you confirmed are added to the skills list, and nowhere else.
- Employers, dates, titles and numbers never change. The rewrite is about emphasis and vocabulary, not new claims.
Each tailored version is stored beside your main resume with its own PDF and DOCX, so you can keep one per application.
What should you do with a low match?
Read the not-shown rows. If you have the skill, confirm it and tailor; the match usually moves a lot, because the gap was wording, not experience. If you do not have it and it is marked required, that is useful too: the hour you would have spent on that application is better spent on a posting where you match the required items. The check is free and takes fifteen seconds, which is the point.
Where do I get the job description from?
Anywhere you find VA work. Copy the whole posting, including the requirements and the tools, not only the title:
- VirtualStaffer listings. No copying needed. Every job page has a “Tailor my resume to this job” button that runs the match and links the tailored version to the listing.
- OnlineJobs.ph and Upwork. Paste the full description. Upwork postings often hide the tools in the middle paragraphs; include them.
- LinkedIn and Indeed. Expand “show more” before copying, or the requirements section is missed.
- Facebook groups and email. Short postings still work. The fewer requirements there are, the more the match leans on the role title.
What do the three grades mean?

Rows the posting marks as required weigh more than preferred ones. Requirements about years of experience or a degree are graded but never confirmable, since a checkbox cannot make them true.
Why does the confirmation step exist?
Because the resume has to survive the interview. Any tool can stuff a resume with the posting's keywords; that gets a call, then a trial task you cannot do, then a bad review on a platform where reviews follow you. The matcher asks, one item at a time, whether you have actually used the tool. Only a “yes” adds it, and it adds it to the skills list, not to a job you did not do it in. The result is a resume you can defend line by line.
Should I tailor my resume for every application?
Check every one, tailor the ones worth it. The check is free and takes fifteen seconds, so run it on anything you are tempted to apply to. Tailor when the required rows are strong or confirmable and the job is one you would take. Skip when a required row is not shown and you cannot honestly confirm it; that hour goes to a better-matched posting. Candidates who apply to fewer, better-matched jobs with a tailored resume tend to spend less time applying and more time interviewing, which is the whole point of the tool.
How do I keep track of all the versions?
Every tailored version lives under the resume it came from, named after the job and the company, with its own PDF and DOCX and its own match score. Cover letters written for that job sit beside it. When a listing on VirtualStaffer is the source, the version is linked to that listing so you can apply with it in one step. Your main improved resume never changes when you tailor; it is the master copy, and every version is a copy aimed at one job.

Is the job description resume matcher free?
The match check is free: paste a posting and see how your resume matches each requirement. Writing a tailored version uses one from the Application Pack (₱299) or the 30-day Pass (₱499). Up to five checks a day per account.
What does the match score mean?
It is the share of the posting's requirements your resume shows evidence for, weighted toward the ones marked required. It is separate from your resume score: a strong resume can still be a weak match for one job.
What if a requirement says not shown but I have the skill?
Say so. Requirements marked partial or not shown carry a Yes/No question. Answer yes only for tools and skills you have actually used, and the tailored version includes them. Requirements you do not confirm are never added.
Do I need an improved resume first?
Yes. The match runs against your improved resume so the wording is consistent. Score your resume free first; the improved version is one payment away and then covers every match you run.
Does it connect to the jobs on VirtualStaffer?
Yes. Every listing on the site has a Tailor my resume to this job button under Apply. It runs the same match against that listing's requirements and links the tailored version to the job, so you can apply with it in one step.
How many jobs can I tailor to?
One with the Application Pack, and more packs add up. Unlimited with the 30-day Pass, capped at five tailorings a day per account. The match check itself never uses an allowance.
Does the match check use up my allowance?
No. Checking is free and only counts toward the five-a-day limit. An allowance is used only when you click Tailor my resume and a version is written.
Can I paste a posting written in Filipino or Taglish?
You can, and the requirements are usually extracted correctly, but postings in English give the most reliable match because the tailored resume and cover letter are written in English.
What if I confirmed a skill by mistake?
Open the tailored version, change that answer to No in the redo box and tailor again. The redo is free once per version, and the skill is removed. Your main resume was never changed.
